I am captured by decadent and symbolist literature. As well, the Australian literary superstars of the past were to be found in Lemurian-style novels of our first female global celebrity writer Rosa Praed.
Considering that much of Australian literary excellence (in my field, poetry) goes by the wayside historically, I created an event that would address that - Mad Bad and Dangerous to Know. To borrow heavily from the notoriety of Lord Byron, this new event is to chirp up for poets I know historically up until very recently that have been forgotten or recently re-celebrated: Francis Webb, Bruce Beaver, Harry Hooton to name a few.
Yet my personal knowledge is not exhaustive. This is why the talent of Lou Steer and Michele Seminara have come to the fore with their particular expertise and interpretation of poetry and literature in general. Writers such as Vicki Viidikas, Jennifer Rankin will be championed along with others that the community that follows our Byronic throng care to have us or others perform.
International poets will also hover in these theme based nights. Pessoa, Herberto Helder, De Rokha, Pizarnik, Gourmont and anyone whose work perhaps has not been translated into English but deserves to,
